Piscataway rises in rankings of Best Districts in NJ

students in college shirtsPiscataway Township Schools has once again been selected by Niche.com as one of the Best School Districts in New Jersey for 2025, rising in several rankings from the 2024 list.

Piscataway got an overall grade of A- and rated an A+ in College Prep and Diversity, and an A in Teachers and Clubs & Activities.

All students eligible for free breakfast

School breakfastPiscataway Township Schools leaders are excited to offer free breakfast to all students for the 2024-25 school year – a move that is expected to help more children start their day off right at minimal cost to the district.

The plan is being put into action by the district’s new food services company, Maschio’s Food Services, and the district’s Business Office, headed by Business Administrator David Oliveira.

District wins 4 national awards for outreach, communication

award of excellence logoPiscataway Township Schools has earned four national awards honoring the district’s community outreach and communication programs – the second highest award total of any district in New Jersey.

The district was honored in four categories of the 2024 Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Piscataway is one of just seven districts from New Jersey to be honored.

Teacher honored for work with disabled students

teacher with awardA veteran special education teacher for Piscataway Township Schools has been chosen as the statewide Transition Educator of the Year for her outstanding work with disabled students in preparing them for the workplace and adult life.

Lisa Jarusiewicz works in the district’s SAIL Program, which stands for Students Achieving Independent Life Skills. She earned the award from the NJ Association of People Supporting Employment for her intense focus on transition planning and support for students with disabilities moving into the workforce.
