Internet-Enabled Devices
The State of New Jersey mandated a statewide ban on students’ use of personal internet-enabled devices on January 8, 2026, to take effect in 2026-2027 school year. Commonly referred to as a “cellphone ban,” this rule (S-3695/A-4882) refers to all personal internet-enabled devices, including smartphones, smart watches, tablets, smart glasses, and more. The new law requires the ban to be in effect “bell to bell,” meaning from the start of the school day to the end of the school day.
Piscataway Township Schools is working closely with our community, staff, parents, and students to implement this ban, as is required of all school districts in New Jersey. Information and specifics about how new rules will be implemented will be posted here as it becomes available. We thank everyone in our community for helping to make this transition as smooth as possible.
