Loretta Rivers is a dedicated nonprofit director with over 20 years of experience in developing innovative programs aimed at improving the lives of underserved communities. She is known for her visionary leadership, successfully building coalitions, winning community support, and driving performance improvements. With a passion for making a difference, Loretta continuously strives for solutions where everyone benefits.
Loretta holds a Bachelor of Science from Morris Brown College and a degree in Public Administration from Kean University. She has worked with HUD across the southern U.S., overseeing quality control for REO homes in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. In New Jersey, she teaches homebuyer classes, covering topics such as budgeting, savings, and homeownership options for nonprofits.
Her professional experience also spans roles in social services with the YMCA of Eastern Union County, community relations with the Georgia Department of Transportation, and international relations with the Georgia Department of Commerce.
A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated since 1996, Loretta actively serves in the Omega Mu Zeta chapter in Middlesex County as the scholarship chair and youth mentor. For the past twelve years, she has worked with Morris Habitat for Humanity, advocating for housing issues, testifying before the New Jersey State Senate, and engaging with local leaders to address homelessness and housing insecurity.
In addition to her advocacy, Loretta is a member of the New Brunswick NAACP, the League of Women Voters, and Affordable Housing Professionals.
Loretta lives in Middlesex County with her husband Donald and their three children—Djenne, Isaiah, and Zoey. She is deeply committed to making a lasting impact on housing and community development in New Jersey, living by her personal motto: “Service is the rent you pay for living on this earth.”
