Piscataway Township Schools has been selected to become part of the League of Innovative Schools, a national network of school districts that connects and supports the nation’s most forward-thinking leaders in education. 

Piscataway was selected from a competitive national pool of applicants based on its educational leadership, demonstrated commitment to excellence, innovative vision for learning, and collaborative spirit. 

Piscataway becomes part of a network of 175 forward-thinking school districts nationwide. Just 19 school districts in New Jersey have been honored with selection to the League, and only two in Middlesex County.

Piscataway chose to join the League as a concrete step to drive the integration of technology to meet diverse student needs.

“Digital platforms and adaptive programs are routinely used to enhance instruction for English as a Second Language learners and students receiving special education services,” said

Superintendent Erskine R. Glover. “This technology enables us to offer differentiated instruction, accessibility tools, and personalized learning pathways.”

Piscataway Township Schools plans to make great use of its selection for the League of Innovative Schools to empower students through new and engaging uses of technology to support learning.

In addition, these technologies support the district’s curriculum and give all students creative outlets for engagement and learning.

“The district will continue to invest in creative technologies that empower students to design, produce, and share video and multimedia content, fostering authentic learning, communication skills, and student voice,” Glover said.

The League of Innovative Schools is organized by Digital Promise, a non-partisan, global nonprofit that advances equitable education systems by bringing together solutions across research, practice, and technology.

Selection for the League will give Piscataway’s leaders, educators, and learners access to a range of learning opportunities and resources, including: 

• Learning Inside Real Classrooms: Meeting in person with educational leaders to experience innovative practices in real classrooms across the country and develop action plans for adopting similar approaches. 
• Engaging in Peer-to-Peer Learning: Connecting and collaborating regularly with peers through virtual learning sessions to discuss shared challenges, identify possible solutions, and implement changes that foster success. 
• Co-Creating and Piloting Research-Backed Approaches: Partnering with Digital Promise researchers and fellow school systems to build a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the community and develop research-backed solutions that improve student outcomes.
