Family Science Night creates chemical reaction between elementary and high schools

Take 280 of our elementary school students and add 95 Piscataway High School volunteers and you get a chemical reaction that is groundbreaking in the Pway science community!
The 3rd-annual PHS Family Science Night was hosted by the Science National Honor Society on Feb. 20, featuring a wide range of experiments that entertained, engaged, and enlightened students in Grades K-3.
Experiments including slime, model volcanoes, elephant toothpaste, and toothpick-and-Play-Doh towers awaited families as they rotated through 13 classrooms, digging deeper into STEM with the high schoolers’ help. Students learned about scientific topics, such as physics, fossilization, and materials science. The event also featured astronomy and ecology backdrops for families to take photos and keep memories of the night.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who led with enthusiasm, empowering the next generation of young scientists. Special thanks to SNHS advisor Dr. Janet Mrotek and PHS Science Chair Jessica Pritchard for helping our students arrange this exciting event and create an enriching experience for everyone.
