Standout athletes honored for academics and sportsmanship

Five Piscataway High School senior student athletes are being honored for their outstanding contributions to athletics, academics, and sportsmanship.
Elitsa Mileva has been selected as Scholar Athlete by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. This award goes to a student who has a GPA of 3.0 or higher, is an exceptional athlete, and exhibited outstanding school and community citizenship.
Chiemeka Chukwu and Mira Kehair were chosen for the Greater Middlesex Conference Jay H. Dakelman Scholar Athlete Award, which goes to a student athlete who exhibits academic and athletic accomplishment, community service, and leadership.
Alisha Dhillon and Vaughn Turner were selected for the Greater Middlesex Conference Sportsmanship Award, which goes to athletes who represent and carry the ideals of sportsmanship and fair play.
Each of these awards carries a $500 scholarship for the winner.
“These five student athletes are excellent examples of what we strive to instill in our students in Piscataway,” said Athletic Director Robert Harmer. “We could not be prouder of their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, and in life. They have grown into mature and successful young men and women, and I am confident that the traits will continue to serve them well into adulthood.”
