Superintendent's Corner

June 8, 2021

Dear Piscataway Families:

You have no doubt heard that Governor Murphy announced that school districts could relax mask wearing for students during extreme heat, a conflicting message from previously stated protocols. Keeping in mind the health and safety of all students and staff, and avoiding any respiratory danger, how and when to relax mask wearing was left up to each school district. After consulting with our building principals and transportation department, here is an update on how we will handle mask wearing in Piscataway for these last seven days of the 2020-2021 school year.

  • First, and foremost, all of our school buildings are comfortably air conditioned. Mask wearing will continue for all indoor learning and activities.
  • During recess, any outdoor P.E. classes, and on buses to and from school, mask wearing will be optional. Students will continue to practice social distancing.

The health and safety of our students and staff continue to be our top priorities. Should you have any questions about mask wearing protocols, please feel free to contact your building principal or my office directly.
