Dear Friends,

Please accept my honest apology for the automated phone calls to your multiple numbers on non-urgent matters. It is our intention to communicate with families on topics that are related to children in our community, but not to interrupt your family dinners or your extended family unless there is an emergency.

The District recently switched providers for its automated phone system and staff were trained, but the new system is different. Last evening, a simple mistake was made; there was not supposed to be an automated call, just an email message to three schools.

Going forward, I or the Assistant Superintendent will personally approve any use of the automated phone system.

Having said that, we believe it is important to make you aware of opportunities within our schools and community that may interest your family. For this reason, we have partnerships with the Library, youth athletic and Scouting organizations, and similar groups. Board policy #1140 states “Material being sent home with pupils should relate to school matters or pupil-related community activities…pupils shall not be exploited for the benefit…of any profit-making organization.” Distribution of materials from non-profit organizations is consistent with Board policy when it relates to children. Henceforth, these type of announcements will only be emailed and will have a clear subject line.
