Code of Student Conduct
2018-2019 Code of Student Conduct

August 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Certainly we would all agree that one factor leading to school success is providing a safe and orderly environment for student learning.

We are entering our ninth year of implementation of the Code of Student Conduct. This document has assisted tremendously in providing clear standards for behavior and fair consequences should infractions occur. The Code has been reviewed and updated annually based on feedback from principals, administration, staff, and the community.

The Piscataway Board of Education, in accordance with state law, has adopted this Code and we have made it available for you. Consistent with state law, please understand that school officials may impose consequences on a student for conduct away from school grounds or misuse of social media, including on a school bus or at a school-sponsored function. Please read the materials and have discussions with
your child as you see fit. We, in turn, will emphasize these guidelines each year as school begins and throughout the semester as needed.

Again, our mutual goal is to make certain our schools and our children have the best climate and atmosphere for learning and growing. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Teresa M. Rafferty
Superintendent of Schools
