Q:  What can I do to help my child succeed in Language Arts?
  • A:  Quality reading leads to quality writing.  Providing your child with well composed material in their interest areas allows for continued exposure to sound writing.  In turn, this exposure acts as a model when they write as part of the educational process.
  • A:  An excellent collateral reading strategy is the Book Talk.  Put simply, both you and your child(ren) independently read the same novel.  When finished, set aside a dedicated time to discuss the plot, issues, and themes present in the book.  If possible, discuss how the themes and issues in the book relate to society as a whole.
  • A:  Familiarize yourself with readwritethink.com.  The website provides essay building prompts that can aid in the writing process at home.

Q:  How do I preserve the softcover SpringBoard text?

  • A:  The Springboard texts are designed to be placed in a three-ring binder.  In addition to aiding in organization, the books remain well protected when placed in a binder.
