Tom holds a Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut and is a former Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Connecticut State Department of Health.

After 25 years of service, Dr. Connors retired from Colgate-Palmolive Company in 2011.  Dr. Connors is the author/coauthor of 29 US, 6 European (EP), and 6 World (WO) patents.  Dr. Connors also the author/coauthor of 33 peer-reviewed scientific publications.  After Colgate, Dr. Connors became Director of Product Development for a privately held company called Envirochem, Inc.  Dr. Connors has been a member of the American Chemical Society since 1982.

Tom has been a Piscataway resident for the past 28 years.   Tom and his wife Abigail have been married for 32 years and have three children ages 28, 26, and 23. Tom's wife holds a Master's degree in Education from the University of Connecticut and is an early childhood education author and teacher. All of Tom’s children attended Piscataway Public Schools pre-K through High School, graduating in 2004, 2007, and 2009 respectively. After High School they all attended Rutgers University.  Tom’s oldest son, Matt, graduated with his Baccalaureate’s degree from the Rutgers College Honors Program with a double major in Chemistry and Physics in 2008.  He then went on to receive his Doctorate in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2014.  Tom’s second son, Steve, graduated with his Baccalaureate’s degree from the Honors Program majoring in English in 2011.  He currently works with special needs children.  Tom’s daughter, Shannon, graduated with her Baccalaureate’s degree in Psychology in 2013 and received her Master's degree in Education from the Graduate School of Education in 2014.  She currently works as a Middle School Math Teacher.  As you can see, education is a top priority in Tom’s family and a top priority for him in Piscataway. Tom is very proud to serve his community as a member of the Board of Education.

Tom has been very active in the Piscataway Community. He’s a former Soccer Club coach, referee, and executive board member, Little League coach, Township Recreation Middle School Basketball coach, High School Athletic Booster Club member, High School Grading Policy Committee member, and High School Superchief Band Parents Association equipment crew and executive board member.  Tom is currently a member of the Piscataway Township Open Space Committee and a former member of the Environmental Advisory Committee.
