May 22, 2020

Hello Piscataway Families,

With Memorial Day upon us, we really are in the final stretch of the school year, and we continue to plan and implement our end-of-year ceremonies and activities. This week, our elementary schools celebrated with virtual field days during picture perfect weather. We are seeing both students and faculty make incredible use of technology in sharing concerts, short films, and presentations. While this time in quarantine has been less than ideal, it is gratifying to see our teachers and students communicate and celebrate with out-of-the-box thinking.

Our biggest celebration of the year is, of course, the Piscataway High School graduation. And while this year, it will be different, we hope it will be meaningful and memorable. While we await final orders from the governor as to exactly what will be permissible, we are planning both virtual and physical celebrations, in collaboration with local government and the police department. We will announce final plans to the Class of 2020 as soon as possible.

Finally, I want to update you on our Meal Delivery for Piscataway as well as alert you to a food drive where you can donate food for those in need:

MEAL DELIVERY
The District continues to expand our meal distribution program to ensure that families in the community have access to food during this crisis.  Effective today, all families that pickup “Grab and go” meals on Fridays will receive additional meals for the weekend.  As a reminder, our daily meals include a breakfast and lunch and are available to ALL Piscataway students.  Meals can be picked up Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at all 10 school buildings, the 2 Children’s Corner locations and the Board Office.

DRIVE BY FOOD DRIVE
A “Drive By Food Drive” is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 6 from12:00-4:00 in the Menlo Park Mall parking lot, to serve Middlesex County residents in need. See the flyer for requested items and drop off information.

I hope you are able to relax and enjoy family time over the long weekend.

Very sincerely,

Dr Frank Ranelli
