Dr. Tom Connors holds a Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut (1986) and is a former Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Connecticut State Department of Health (1987). He has been a member of the American Chemical Society since 1982, and authored/coauthored 33 peer-reviewed scientific publications. 

Dr. Connors worked at the Piscataway Colgate-Palmolive Global Research Center for 24 years, where he authored/coauthored a total of 41 ingredient and product formulation patents: 29 US, 6 European (EP), and 6 Worldwide (WO). Many of his formulations resulted in new products under brand names such as Palmolive Dish Liquid, Ajax, and Soft Soap. After retiring from Colgate in 2011, Dr. Connors became Director of Product Development for a privately held company, Envirochem, Inc.

A Piscataway resident since 1987, Tom and his wife Abigail have been married for 36 years. Abigail holds a Master's degree in Education from the University of Connecticut and is an early childhood education author and teacher. They have three children, who attended Piscataway Public Schools, pre-K through the High School, graduating in 2004, 2007, and 2009 respectively, before attending Rutgers University. Tom’s son Matt received a BA with a double major in Chemistry and Physics, and a Doctorate in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Tom’s son Steve received a BA with an English major, and currently works with special needs children. Tom’s daughter Shannon holds a BA in Psychology, went on to receive a Master's degree from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education, and is now a Middle School Math Teacher. Education is a top priority in Tom’s family and for him in Piscataway. He is proud to serve his community as a member of the Piscataway Board of Education.

In addition to his work on the Board, Tom is active in the Piscataway Community. He’s a former Piscataway Soccer Club coach, referee, and executive board member. He has coached Little League, Recreation Middle School Basketball, and was a High School Athletic Booster Club member, a High School Grading Policy Committee member, and High School Superchief Band Parents Association equipment crew and executive board member. Tom is currently a member of the Piscataway Township Open Space Committee and a former member of the Environmental Advisory Committee.
